Mansion House Banquet 2011

With the kind permission of the Lord Mayor, the Company once again held its Annual Banquet at Mansion House on 26th January 2011.The Annual Banquet is, for many Members, the highlight of the Company's year. The Lord Mayor himself was off on his travels promoting the City of London but he was most ably and delightfully represented by Alderman and Sheriff Fiona Woolf. The Chaplain Rev. George Bush started the proceedings off with one of his customary excellent rhyming graces which preceded a splend repast. The Company and its guests were in good voice for sung grace which followed. The traditions of the City were respected with the ceremony of the Loving Cup and the Master and Senior Warden respectively gave the Civic Toast and the Toast to the Guests. Sheriff Fiona Woolf responded on behalf of the City and the evening was rounded off by a splendid contribution from the Honourable Mr Justice Davis who as a sitting Justice of the High Court related a number of excellent anecdotes that proved that Judges are human after all!
