January 8 2004 Michael Goodridge, a Liveryman of the Company, has been awarded an MBE in the New Years Honours  list . The citation in the London Gazette was "as Governor of Godalming College Surrey for services to further education" . He is due to collect the award at Buckingham Palace on 11 th February.   He has been a Governor of Godalming College since 1984 . As Chairman from 1991 to 1999 ,  he saw the College move from a County Council Sixth Form College to an Independent Corporation . In 1998  he received the Queens Anniversary Prize.  In 2001 a new teaching block  for which he had campaigned was named the Goodridge Building .   The College has about 1500 students plus an adult business section.   It is extremely successful , as demonstrated by its 99%  A Level pass rate  in 2003.
