Masters' Bucket Collection for British Red Cross

The Lord Mayor sent Livery Masters out to collect for the Red Cross in Chain and Gown on London Bridge on 6th May 2011 in fair London town.

The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. They are part of a global network of volunteers and staff, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. They help vulnerable people in the UK and abroad prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when a crisis is over, they help people to recover and move on with their lives. Across the world, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement has national societies in 186 countries with over 20 million volunteers specialising in meeting local needs and ready to come together to support each other in an emergency. In local communities throughout the UK the Red Cross is there. They provide life saving first aid training, care for people returning home from hospital when there is no one else to turn to, support refugees fleeing conflict and are ready to respond to emergencies 365 days a year. In London alone, 1,914 skilled volunteers deliver services to the community.

There was a fantastic amount of money raised and a few members of the public commented to collectors in the City what a great sight it was to see everyone collecting on the bridge.
